Meet Austin Gilchrist, MD

Surgical Clinic, PC is proud to welcome Dr. Austin Gilchrist, who will be starting in August 2025.

Austin Gilchrist, MD, is a general surgeon at Surgical Clinic, PC, serving Auburn, Opelika, and the surrounding communities. Dr. Gilchrist was born in Dothan, AL, and grew up frequenting Auburn for various sporting events with friends and family. He worked in the medical field as a patient care technician within the operating room before ultimately deciding to pursue a degree in medicine, specifically surgery. He then attended Auburn University, where he graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Biomedical Sciences, before moving on to the University of Alabama School of Medicine (UAB), where he completed his medical school degree. Dr. Gilchrist then completed his general surgery residency at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Chattanooga, TN, where he also completed a year of research, contributing to the fields of general surgery, pediatric surgery, and trauma.

His practice will focus on general surgery, including robotic and laparoscopic minimally invasive procedures. Dr. Gilchrist is looking forward to serving the Auburn and Opelika area and helping patients achieve a better quality of life. Outside of his practice, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, Auburn sports, and is an avid golfer.
